About Liam

I run an ISP.
I’m still on the
customer’s side.

Hey, I’m Liam.

I’m the founder of Olilo. My work sits between network infrastructure and the business of providing broadband to real people.

I care about how a connection is built, how it behaves and what happens when someone needs help. I also care about the agreement wrapped around it: what it costs, what’s promised and how much choice the customer gets.

That’s what this site is for. A place to write in my own voice about the industry I work in and the decisions involved in building a provider.

I’m not against contracts. I’m against treating a customer’s commitment as more important than a provider’s responsibility to deliver.

What holds it together

The network.
The offer.
The experience.

I’m interested in the space between how broadband works and how it feels to be the person buying it.

A technically good service still needs an understandable offer. A well-designed website still needs a service behind it that delivers. And when something goes wrong, the explanation needs to help the customer move forward.

That’s why the detail interests me: the words beside a price, the difference between contract options, what a router page actually explains and the next step in a support conversation. Each shapes what someone expects from their provider.

I want this site to connect those things. Some of it is about building Olilo. Some is about the wider industry. All of it comes back to the relationship between what we promise and what customers receive.

What I’m building

Olilo.

Olilo is the internet service provider I founded, serving the UK and Ireland. It’s where my interest in networks meets the practical work of running a business.

This website is separate: my opinions, my writing and my perspective. For Olilo’s services, current prices and support, head to the company website.

Making the offer
easier to understand.

The Olilo consumer redesign is one place I’m exploring these ideas.

It brings plan information, contract choices and equipment details into a browsing experience people can explore. The router pages go beyond a product name to explain what the equipment offers.

It’s an evolving website project hosted here alongside my personal site. For current services and purchases, the official Olilo website remains the place to go.

Why I’m writing

Put the argument
where it can be challenged.

I have a stake in this industry. That makes it more important to explain what I believe, including the trade-offs, rather than simply say broadband should be better.

My starting points are clear prices, a provider that takes delivery seriously and a real choice of how long to commit. The writing here gives those views more space than a headline or a social post.

I don’t expect everyone to agree. If you see a gap in the argument, or have a different experience, I’d like to hear it.
